Changing The Bylaws

Bylaw amendment proposals can be initiated in one of three ways:

  1. by the Bylaws Committee, or
  2. at the request of a 2/3 majority of the plenary at a General Assembly meeting, either as a result of group discussion or at the request of a delegate, or
  3. by a local group sending a proposal for amendment to the Bylaws Committee or to the Coordinating Committee.

These proposals are then evaluated (and refined, if necessary) by the Bylaws Committee which will work with the author (or proposal advocate) and offer recommendations.

The Bylaws Committee will then circulate a draft of the proposed amendment to the counties at least three weeks prior to the next General Assembly (unless the author wishes to withdraw the proposal).
