GPCA believes that internet in general, and blogs in particular, are fine examples of grassroots democracy in action. This page is meant to support these efforts by gathering together links to blogs by GPCA members.

Contents & Other Links

Blogs

This is our current list of blogs. Some are California-based and some are not. Most have numerous links of their own to other Green sites.

Note that the blogs listed above are not operated or edited by the Green Party of California. They are free speech. Therefore, the Green Party of California does not necessarily endorse any ideas and opinions expressed.

GPCA Web Log Rules

In order to have a presence on (link from) the GPCA web site, a blog must meet the following conditions.

1. The blog must be authored by a Green Party member.
Media would love to promote every thought by every progressive everywhere, but the reality is that this is a Green Party of California web site
2. The blog's author must not promote policies that violate the 10 key values of the Green Party.
We are not trying to supress speech, but we cannot promote, on a Party website, someone who regularly espouses positions or activities that go against core Party principles
3. The blog must have been in existence for at least 3 months.
A blog with no "track record" cannot be evaluated according to these rules. Media Committee may make exceptions to this rule on a case-by-case basis
4. The blog must have regular, and reasonably recent, postings.
Blogs without regular postings or whose most recent postings are more than a few months old soon disappear from readers attention
5. The blog must accept comments from the public.
This is in keeping with Green thinking about grassroots democracy. Note that "reasonable" applies here: screening "trolls" is one thing, but supressing free speech cannot be promoted by Green Party of California
6. The blog must have safeguards against comment spam
In general, requiring a login and / or having an image that must be read to validate the post will suffice. We are not promoting spam, ever!
7. The blog must have a target that can be linked to directly.
In practical terms this means that the link on this page must take a reader directly to a blog page and not (for example) to a personal page with a blog buried somewhere inside of it. Blog readers are looking for blogs and will move right past pages that require "hunting through"

The GPCA Media Committee maintains the blogs page. As such, Media Committee reserves the right to add blogs to this page, and/or remove blogs that are inactive or are deemed inappropriate.

Adding a Blog

If you have a blog, you meet the conditions above, and you want your blog added to the list above, then contact the GPCA Media Committee
