Party Positions on Propositions
These positions were established at the San Jose Plenary (March 2010)
June Ballot
The GPCA General Assembly adopted the following positions on the June 2010
Ballot Measures:
- Proposition 13 (Property Tax Increase Exemption for Earthquake
Safety Improvements): No Position
- Proposition 14 (Top Two Only General Election Limitation for
Candidates a.k.a. "Open Primary" a.k.a. Kill Small Political
Parties): Oppose; Vote NO
- Proposition 15 (Public Financing of Candidates / 2014 and 2018
Elections for Secretary of State Experiment): Support; Vote YES
- Proposition 16 (Requiring 2/3rds Voter Approval for Local Energy
Commissions): Oppose; Vote NO
- Proposition 17 (Allowing Increases of Auto Insturance Rates When
There has been a break in coverage): Oppose; Vote NO
November Ballot
The GA also took the following positions in advance of any of the following
proposed or pending initiatives being certified for the ballot:
- Marijuana Legalization (Regulation and Restrictions similar to
those for alcohol) -- Support; Vote YES
- Any measure requiring parental notification before
doctors/hospitals could provide abortion services to minors -- Oppose;
Vote NO (this position is unchanged from the last three times this initiative
has been put forth)
- Repeal of Proposition 8 (repeal of definition of marriage as
between a man and a women, only) -- Support; Vote YES
