GPCA Coordinating Committee Candidate Bio (Two-Year Term)
Jim Geraghty - Marin County
I registered as a Green Party member close to 15 years ago and served on the
Marin County council for six years and I'm an alternate on the council now.
I have held many successful voter registration drives at out local community
college, College of Marin. I work actively in the community on social
justice issues, just completing a documnetary, Why We Come (Por Que
Venimos).
I also serve on the Sustainable San Rafael Board working with our local city
council for policy change and producing educational events. Additionally, I
also serve as a Marin Peace and Justice Coalition core
member, maintaining their website and developing projects, our newest one,
an online news project.
I am running for the GPCA CC because there is a need to make that connection
between state politics and local politics. We can no longer afford to
operate in the same old manner where divisiveness reins and analysis
paralysis is the status-quo. We need to access opportunities to elect greens
and build our base in local elections. If the state level is not supporting
the local elections then we would not be doing our job. I see opportunities
in communications, regional events and exciting voter drives. We have the
right message we just need to be bold and deliver it every chance we get.
Thank you for your consideration.
